Our feet do an incredible job of carrying us around all day and are often the most neglected part of our body. Whether you live an active lifestyle or are just on them a lot, the demands we ask of our feet deserve a little more TLC from ourselves. We asked our Head Therapist and skin consultant, Annabelle to share her advice, recommendations and top tips to help keep your feet feeling fabulous.
A GOOD BASE TO START...
You may not think about it but recognising good foot care can result in improved performance and a more comfortable ride! Being kind to your feet can prevent problems in the future and we have a great selection of products to help with your foot care regime.
For particularly hard skin I like to recommend using this stone dry! You’ll find it removes more dead skin and doesn’t tear the skin as it can sometimes do when it’s too wet and soft. You can then go on to buff your skin smooth with an exfoliating product.
Giving your feet a polish to soften them with one of our three funky scents of our body exfoliants will leave them feeling super smooth. My personal favourite is Beach Bum with its refreshing Juniper, lime and tangerine which leaves your feet feeling beautifully refreshed.
If you’re rushed off your feet and time is tight, our handy exfoliating scrub bars are easy to use in the bath or shower. The scrubby texture can help to smooth the skin while the rich moisturising properties deeply moisturise all in one. Be careful when using in the shower as your feet will be slippery after one use!
For feet that are prone to sweating or are higher in bacteria, you may find athletes foot, softening peeling nails or a strong smell a problem. Tea tree can help to ease some of these symptoms (although if any of these are chronic or sever you should talk to your doctor). You can add 6-8 drops to a foot bath and soak for 10-15 minutes. You can also add 3-4drops to foot cream or carrier oil and massage into the feet. The anti-bacterial properties of this oil can help deodorise and balance the level of bacteria on the skin.
The rich base of hemp and coconut oil in the cream help to deeply nourish and repair tired feet. Used daily, the natural beeswax in the balm can really soften stubborn areas of hard skin. We have used refreshing essential oils of peppermint and lavender to leave feet feeling refreshed and cool. Taking a little extra time to massage into the skin before bed (as the creams stay on longer) can be really beneficial to making sure the product soaks in well.
With added apricot oil in this base coat, it will actually encourage healthy nail growth. The Five Free means a far less toxic nail polish alternative, for healthy nails. Just one coat will add some shone and will dry really quickly.
For some fun and colour, WiDEYE have a huge range of colours to choose from. The five-Free blend means that these beautiful colours are less toxic with five of the big chemicals having been removed from the formula. The self-levelling finish means they are forgiving when applied. I always recommend keeping the brush strokes to a minimum when applying and always using a base coat first to protect the nails from colour damage.
