Take a closer look | Is our skincare range good value for money?

In a world driven by marketing, it’s sometimes hard to know where you’re actually getting value. If a brand is spending millions on adverts, who’s ultimately paying for them? Now, you might be thinking, hold on a minute, I’ve seen your ads, what are you trying to say?! Well, we will get to that shortly.

If you look at the clothing industry, in recent years there has been a surge in brands offering products that rival the quality of premium brands, but at a fraction of the cost.

This is because smaller and more nimble brands have realised you can still make a successful business without charging through the roof. In the case of premium brands, you’re often paying for the association with that brand, rather than the quality of the product. I don’t have a problem with this, and a cool brand will always catch my eye, but nevertheless, it’s important to be clear on what you’re really paying for.

When it comes to skincare, you can make some similar arguments. On the one hand, you have products that tackle very specific skincare concerns, so higher prices are slightly more justified. But if you’re paying over £100 for a face cream, it’s unlikely that your money is going towards the quality of the formula or the ingredients used.

So where do we stand at WiDEYE?

There is no doubt that we spend some money on branding and marketing, etc... It’s something you just have to do in the modern world. One of the things that differentiates us, though, is that a core value of ours is to keep our prices fair. But what does this really mean?

For example, our face creams start from £16.95, with most of the costs being a combination of ingredients, staff, sustainable packaging, and running our production facility. We then have a reasonable margin which allows us to grow into the future, spread the word, and continue developing new products.

The three-step skincare routine

For a three-step skincare routine with us, you can expect to pay around £39.85, which is almost half the price of another more mainstream brand that uses similar ingredients. A three-step routine with WiDEYE could look something like this…

In our formulas, we guarantee that we don’t use synthetic ingredients like SLSs, parabens, or synthetic scents. Instead, we use natural plant extracts like avocado oil and pure essential oils from suppliers we trust.

Ultimately, we’re here for people who want to steer clear of synthetics but are also conscious about getting good value for money.

Our goal is to introduce as many people as possible to the benefits of natural skin care products, and we think keeping our prices reasonable is an important part of the process.

What’s a rip-off to you?

While we’re on the topic of value for money, here’s a list of things I feel are a rip-off. I’d love to hear yours in the comments!

1 - Parking prices -> In no world should it cost over £10 to park your car at the beach in a car park full of potholes.

2 - Coffee from Starbucks/Costa -> Now I wouldn’t choose to buy my coffee here anyway, but it seems ridiculous that you can charge £5 for a cappuccino that’s objectively worse than one from an independent café.

3 - Discount pricing -> Lots of brands these days actually price their products much higher than they should be so they can sell them at discounts over events like Black Friday. (One of the reasons we never take part)

The fragrance is enough to warrant prices
    Excellent value

I paid £11.00 to park at Bantham beach in Devon this morning to go kiting. Scubbed myself clean with one of your divine soaps that cost me a quarter of that weeks ago and still going strong. You’re most certainly good value for money! X x x
